COLUMN: Library Focus - Library closed Monday and Tuesday

— Apparently the Mayans were wrong or at least misinterpreted, because we are still here! Congratulations on another hectic holiday survived but the New Year still looms large with new challenges and opportunities for all. Stop in soon and see what we can offer to help you deal with whatever the New Year brings. In the meantime, we’ll be rounding out the Christmas holidays with a few more fun offerings to ease the holiday hangover.

Christmas hours

The Library will reopen today with holiday fun for all members of the family. Beginning at 2 p.m. we will be showing the popular animated comedy Ice Age 4: Continental Drift. Bring the kids and we’ll supply the popcorn. The Last Thursday Book Club will also meet Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. for a discussion of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. New members are always welcome.

And now for something completely different….

No, we won’t be celebrating Monty Python but an equally popular BBC offering. Join us from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, for a celebration of our favorite ancient alien with Doctor Who Christmas specials, Whovian treats, (Chocolate Dalek?) and Who trivia. Costumes are optional but why pass up the chance to show up as your favorite doctor, companion or alien?
