LETTERS: Lewis thanks community for the beautiful summer flowers

To the editor:

Thanks to everyone who kept flowers beautiful through the dry summer.

Hanging baskets, many boxes and tubs and small gardens at Lakeland Park, post office, Legion Field, library, water fountain and village entrance signs are planted and maintained by Cazenovia Garden Club teams.

Thanks to garden club members who worked to keep everything watered and beautiful.

Thanks to the businesses which planted and maintained their own boxes, and added extra color and diversity to the street.

The Memorial Garden behind the Cazenovia Public Library has been revised with nooks and special features by Barbara Wells, a local garden club member. Take a look if you haven’t visited there recently.

Brookside Greenhouse staff provided winter storage and help in planting and transporting the pots and hanging baskets. Thanks to Roger and his crew who will pick up the baskets and tubs the first week in October.

Very special thanks to Tom Clarke who watered to keep those plants growing through a bone-dry summer, and thanks to Bill Carr and all his DPW staff for their continued support.

Plantings are supported by the Cazenovia Garden Club winter and spring plant sales, so decorate your home or business and visit the Cazenovia Garden Club Holiday Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Cazenovia Public Library. It is recommended to pre-order; please check the website cazenoviagardenclub.org.
