COLUMN: Library Focus - February offers classes, tax help and more

— The world is changing rapidly but our mission remains the same: to help you. That’s why we supply tax forms, offer computer classes, sponsor exercise classes, host book groups, provide craft workshops and stock our shelves with thousands of books, CDs and DVDs designed to instruct, empower and entertain you. Stop in soon and find out what we can do for you.

Taxing times

The wait is over folks. The forms are finally beginning to come in. The most commonly needed forms both federal and state will once again be available on the display at the front of the library between the circulation desk and the director’s office. If you need forms that are not in stock, we can look them up and print them for you at either of the information desks for 10 cents a page. We will be hosting the AARP tax filing assistance program for seniors again this year from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, but the appointments are filling up fast so be sure to call us at 635-5631 and reserve a space while you still can. Another nearby location offering the service is Canton Woods (from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays); call 638-0097 to make an appointment.

Making, mending and more

Take a break from books, screens and the stresses of everyday life in our convenient, friendly, long running craft circles. First up this month is Pulling Threads from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 20. These stitchers get together on the first and third Wednesdays of every month to work on quilts, sewing projects, crochet, whatever you're interested in. Tables are available to lay out your work and no registration is needed. In Stitches meets at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 27 to complete projects of their own.
