COLUMN: Library Focus - Tax season on the horizon

— The tax forms aren’t here yet, but the season will soon be underway. Start collecting your information for this year’s filing and preparing to make future filings easier by taking advantage of some of the library’s free hands-on courses both in person and online.

Improving your finances starts with keeping track of them. Master your accounting software before tax season with a full day class on QuickBooks 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16.

Learn something new

Learn how to make the most of technology with the help of our hands-on courses. Held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, class seating is limited to 10 and registration is required (sign up online, bville.lib.ny.us or call 635-5631 to register). This month’s classes are as follows: ereaders and eBooks Jan. 16; email Basics Jan. 23; and Finding Answers on the Web Jan. 30.

Intro to genealogy

At 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16, Louise Creighton will offer a special session for beginners. These hands-on classes are free but registration is required (sign up online, bville.lib.ny.us or call 635-5631 to register).

Clean out your projects

Clean out your old projects in congenial company. We have morning and evening options for all you guilty procrastinators. Pulling Threads meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, and In Stitches convenes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23.

Join us for this three-part series and hear caregivers and professionals discuss helpful strategies to provide safe, effective and comfortable care at this three-part workshop presented from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan.16, 23 and 30 by the Alzheimer's Association, CNY Chapter.
